Artist Tom Benner’s shrines displaying and educating the viewer about At Risk of Endangered animals such as the Rayed Bean found in the Thames River, London, Ontario, the Bison and the Leatherback Turtle.
A Canoe representing the Native American leader Tecumseh and his journey across North America to bring together all the different band leaders.
I am going Egyptian style with these Wild African Asses. Tom Benner wanted to remind his viewer of this incredible animal that is now extinct. Without this animal things like the pyramids in Egypt would have been harder to build. It was on their backs that supplies was carried or pulled. They were also used for travelling. Even travelling from the living to the dead. These Wild Donkeys would be placed in tombs with dead pharaohs so that they could journey to the afterlife. One pharaoh was given 12 donkeys for his burial tomb. Another reason why they became extinct.
